This promotional pocket map of Los Angeles is a rare and intriguing artifact created by Felix Viole for the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce. The map was "engraved" by Thorpe Engraving Company, as indicated near the box for Santa Monica by the Sea.
Shows city limits, street names, railroads, and other establishments and buildings of note. Features numerous advertisements for banks and businesses within the city. Verso shows an alphabetized street index.
In 1905, Viole established the Felix Viole Map and Address Company, which became the primary producer of maps for the Los Angeles area during the early 20th century. His company was responsible for creating official maps of Los Angeles City, County, and Southern California.
