Full Title: A Mr. Claude Bose du Bois Conseiller du Roy en tous Ses Conseilles Procureur General de la Cour des Aydes & Provost des Marchand de la Ville de Paris.

Nicolas de Fer was a French cartographer and publisher who lived in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. He was born in 1646 in the city of Saint-Dié-des-Vosges in the eastern part of France and was the son of a prominent map engraver, Antoine de Fer. From an early age, Nicolas showed a keen interest in maps and geography, and he soon became an expert in these fields. Throughout his career, Nicolas de Fer produced a vast number of maps and atlases, many of which were highly regarded for their accuracy and beauty. He is best known for his large-scale maps of France and other parts of Europe, as well as his detailed city plans.

Despite his many contributions to the field of cartography, Nicolas de Fer is perhaps best remembered for his contributions to the development of decorative cartography. He was known for incorporating elaborate embellishments and ornate borders into his maps, which were designed to appeal to a wider audience beyond the world of navigation and commerce. Today, his maps are highly sought after by collectors and are considered some of the most beautiful examples of French cartography from the early modern period.
