This map shows Hardeman County, est.1858. The county seat of Quanah is shown near its center, on the junction of Ft. Worth and Denver Railroad and Oklahoma City & Texas Railroad lines. The northern edge of the county is defined by the Prairie Dog Fork of the Red River, while the Pease River runs across its southern expanse. The county is bordered by Wilbarger, Foard, Cottle and Childress counties.
