Map of Augsburg, Germany from Civitates Orbis Terrarum (1572-1622), a collective work engraved by Hogenberg and edited by Braun which contained 542 bird's-eye views of cities around the world. Shows the city's fortifications and canals and contains a numbered legend which indicates locations of important sites and buildings. To the lower right appears a cartouche with a description of the city and its inhabitants. The upper left corner contains the crest of the Holy Roman Empire next to the city's coat of arms.
