This map shows Cooke County, with the county seat of Gainesville near its center. Gainesville is situated on the junction of the Missouri, Kansas & Texas Railroad and the Gulf, Colorado & San Francisco Railroad. The county’s northern boundary is the Red River and Indian Territory, with Grayson County on its east, Wise County and Denton County on its south, and Montague County on its west.
