Edward Weller, a renowned map engraver, gained prominence for his contributions to Cassell's "Weekly Dispatch Atlas" around 1862. His work in this atlas included detailed street plans of London and its suburbs, as well as maps of various regions such as Australia, Arabia, Asia (including India, China, and Indonesia), Canada, and South Africa. Weller also produced maps of several English counties for this publication.

Beyond the "Weekly Dispatch Atlas," Weller's cartographic skills were employed in other notable projects. He engraved maps for George Philip's "County Atlas of England and Wales," showcasing his versatility in map creation. Weller's entry into the field of cartography was facilitated by his uncle, Sidney Hall, a prominent British engraver and cartographer who paid for his apprenticeship. This familial connection played a crucial role in shaping Weller's career.

In recognition of his expertise, Weller served as an unofficial cartographer to the Royal Geographical Society, further cementing his reputation in the field of map-making.
